Hi, We are now ready to take orders for honey bee colonies in the coming 2021 season!   A nucleus of honey bees consists of 5 to 6 DN4 British Standard Hoffman self-spacing brood frames suitable for use with a British National hive (the most popular hive in the UK).  These frames are also compatible with pretty garden WBC beehives.  (They are interchangeable).

Our nucs will give you a good start in beekeeping and they will need to be transferred into a British National or WBC hive brood box consisting of 10 to 11 DN4 frames.   Your empty nucleus can then be available for future use!

Our honey bees (originally Buckfast’s) are very productive, good tempered and easy to handle.  They are acclimatised to the chilly North East weather too!   A new colony will consist of a mated queen, worker bees, frames of brood in all stages of development including eggs, open larvae and sealed larvae, also stores of pollen and honey.

Supply is limited and dependent upon 2021 weather conditions.  Colonies can be collected from our apiary in Morpeth from late April to July.
